It's quite cool for now in Arusha and isn't as hot as Dar (capital city) but we're still aiming for a tan when we can haha!
Therefore, we have booked some time to spend on the beautiful island of Zanzibar! Absolutely buzzing for this in a few weeks time as it is suppose to be absolutely gorgeous, white beaches and all.
Placement this week has been quite interesting if that's the correct word to use... We have seen some very ill patients this week unfortunately. Although we were able to intervene and help as the patients could communicate better in English than he could Swahili! Out saving the world haha...
The language barrier is frustrating but we are getting there slowly but surely :)
Midweek we visited Paradiso orphanage. This was in someways disappointing and not what we expected it to be. The area of which the orphanage is situated is shockingly poor which was to be expected, as was the condition of the house and the lack of belongings. It was an upsetting sight for us both to see but even more disappointing to see that the money given by previous donators hadn't been put to good use. However, we used some of our money wisely and carted bag loads of food and goodies for the children that they can use for a while and some which they enjoyed whilst we were there. We played football with them after a while which was fun and we're looking forward to going back and organising some fun activities with the kids as there doesn't seem to be much going on.
On Friday we went to Njiro Complex which is a small shopping centre with a cinema and some great restaurants! We found some great toy shops there too, where we intend to spend a lot if our fundraising money! We got some lunch while at Njiro which was a crazy experience, we sat down at a table and about 20 people from different restaurants ran over with different menus... All wanting us to pick something off their menu :0! In the end we got a Chinese which was fantastic.... Oh how we have missed Chinese haha!!
Later that night we went out to dinner at a place called Blue Heron which was recommended to us by a local friend, it was a beautiful restaurant all candle lit tables and roses everywhere, they served great food and there was also a live band who were totally amazing! (We got their CD too !) Best place for dinner so far!! Ps I think we looked like we were on a date haha!!
The weekend was pretty hectic with old housemates leaving and new ones arriving.
Quiet weekend spent time at the market and bought lots of stuff! Chilled the rest of the weekend getting to know all the new housemates :)!
We will post again next week, hope you all enjoy reading!
